Alice Drulard Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Alice Drulard Memorial Nursing Scholarship

The Alice Drulard Memorial Nursing Scholarship was established in 1993 to honor the memory of the late Alice Drulard, a former NMC faculty member. Mrs. Drulard helped create the licensed practical nursing program at NMC and served as its director from 1955 until her retirement in 1974. During her tenure the State of Michigan Board of Nursing and the federal government recognized her for raising the stature of practical nurses. However, she was most proud that her work enabled many women to retrain themselves and find meaningful work in the medical profession. During her 19 years of leadership, 1,650 women and men graduated from the practical nursing program. Mrs. Drulard was elected to the college Board of Trustees in 1974 and was named an NMC Fellow in 1984. Mrs. Drulard passed away on November 17, 1993 at the age of 84.
