Catherine Strom Schmidt Zonta Scholarship

The parents and husband of Catherine Strom Schmidt established this scholarship in memory of Catherine, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 1997 at the age of 28. Peter and Karen Strom, her parents, and Wayne Schmidt, her husband, reside in the Traverse City area. A native of Traverse City and a 1986 graduate of Traverse City Central High School, Catherine Strom Schmidt studied American Sign Language at NMC. She earned a degree in public administration from Miami University of Ohio, and returned to Traverse City to work at the Park Place Hotel, Days Inn, and Convention and Visitors Bureau. She was a member of the Zonta II Club.
