F.W. Sorensen Memorial Scholarship

Mrs. Annette Sorenson of Traverse City established this scholarship in 1981 in memory of her husband, Frederick W. Sorenson, who died the same year. Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson moved to Traverse City in 1950, where he worked at Cone Drive, now Cone-Drive Textron. He spent 35 years with the manufacturing company, retiring as general manager. During his tenure at Cone Drive, Mr. Sorenson donated manufacturing machinery to the college for its training programs. All three of the Sorenson children earned associate"s degrees at NMC, and five grandchildren have also attended.
