Genevieve Steiger Richardson and Harold Richardson Scholarship

Douglas Steiger of Rochester and Richard Steiger of Traverse City established this scholarship in 1984 to honor the memory of their mother. Mrs. Genevieve Richardson was an active business and civic leader in Traverse City who died in 1984 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Richardson, in 1973. An Ohio native, Mrs. Richardson moved to Traverse City from Detroit in 1936. She was a member of the planning committee for the Mark and Helen Osterlin Library at NMC, and a past president and charter member of the college"s Wigwam Club booster organization. In addition, Mrs. Richardson served as president of the Traverse City Community Council and was active with multiple civic clubs. Professionally, she managed the Traverse City Credit Bureau, served as second vice-president of the Association of Credit Bureaus of Michigan and enjoyed a second career in real estate.
