Harold & Ida Murner Nursing Scholarship

Harold & Ida Murner Nursing Scholarship

The Harold C. (“Curly”) & Ida Murner Nursing Scholarship is an endowed scholarship established in 1996 to assist students enrolled in Nursing Programs at NMC. Mr. & Mrs. Murner were Traverse City residents and business owners. After Mr. Murner"s death, Mrs. Murner made several donations to the college in his memory. She recalled that he was always interested in NMC and in the early days of the college he would “help to paint the old buildings to make them presentable.” In 1986 Mrs. Murner wrote that she “was very proud of the business accomplishments my husband made without a college education, which he always wished he might have had.” When Mrs. Murner passed away in 1997, her estate designated funds for two scholarship endowments, one of which is for students in the Nursing Program at NMC.
