Joseph (Joe) Noverr Scholarship

Dr. Douglas A. and Betty J. Noverr established this scholarship in 1988 to honor the memory of Dr. Noverr"s father, Joseph (Joe) Noverr, to assist NMC students studying journalism. Joe Noverr was an accomplished journalist who spent his retirement years in Benzie County. He and both his sons, Frank Noverr of Traverse City and Douglas Noverr of East Lansing, highly regard NMC for the educational opportunities it offers in the Grand Traverse region. Dr. Douglas Noverr, himself a community college graduate, is a professor at Michigan State University and chair of its American Thought and Language department.
