Olive V. Longcore Memorial Scholarship

The seven children of Olive V. Longcore, all of who attended NMC, established this scholarship as a memorial to their mother. Olive Longcore was raised on Old Mission Peninsula and graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1933. She pursued a career in nursing, working at the former Traverse City State Hospital for more than 20 years until just before her death in December 1969. Olive raised her children to value education highly and all seven went on from NMC to earn bachelor"s degrees, some more advanced degrees. Two of her children followed Olive into nursing and all of them have contributed to the scholarship fund.
