Tapawingo Scholarship

Mr. Harlan “Pete” Peterson, chef-owner of gourmet restaurant Tapawingo, established this scholarship in 1999. Mr. Peterson opened Tapawingo in Ellsworth and garnered national praise and awards during its operations from 1984 – 2009. Peterson established the scholarship as a way of contributing to the community as well as to improve culinary talent in the region. He believes by helping a promising culinary professional, he may benefit by assuring future skilled employees for area restaurants. Mr. Peterson currently serves on the NMC Great Lakes Culinary Institute Advisory Board.
