The Erich Blough Scholarship

The Erich Blough Scholarship

The Erich Blough Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 and honors the memory of NMC alumnus Erich Blough, who died of cancer on December 13, 1997 at the age of 24. Erich was raised in Cedar and graduated from Traverse City Central High School. He attended NMC during the early 1990s and excelled in his studies, especially psychology and communications. He was a reporter and editor for the campus newspaper, the White Pine Press.

Erich was a beautiful and intelligent young man with a tumble of brown curls and a gap between his front teeth. He was charmingly shy and full of shrewd observations, subtle wit. He seemed to find himself at NMC, develop confidence in his abilities and identity. Before he died, he knew that a scholarship was going to be established in his name—and he was very pleased.

Erich Blough was a man you would be proud to know.
