NMC Student Financial Emergency Fund

EMERGENCY FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR: Food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care.

Northwestern Michigan College will be receiving funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, including: food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. In addition, NMC Foundation has received some emergency funds from donors to fund scholarships that can cover tuition and fees. This application will enable NMC to determine what your needs are and which funds would be appropriate to provide for them as we are able.

At this time, the application is limited to students who are enrolled in at least one credit for spring and/or summer semesters. (Dual enrolled and early college students are not eligible.) The majority of funds available are limited to students who are eligible for Title IV federal aid. Please apply regardless of your Title IV eligibility so that we can try to accommodate your need. You may complete a 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.gov) before June 30, 2020, to establish eligibility. Aid will be awarded in the order of application. The amount will be based on type of emergency financial need, prior known financial need, enrollment level, and subject to availability of funds.
